Weekly Roundup.jpg

Below is a roundup of the few things I found interesting, or have been enjoying, this week. Cheers!

The Great Conversation

Earlier this week I was listening to an episode of The Art of Manliness Podcast and the guest, Scott Hambrick, was talking about "The Great Conversation". It sounded to me like this was a reading plan with a purpose. This list covers the major works in literature from the time of Homer to modern day. I am strongly thinking about working through this reading plan over the next decade!

You can find a complete list of books here.

Book I Have Been Enjoying

Ego is the Enemy.jpg

Ryan Holiday's, "Ego is the Enemy", has been a timely book for me. It has helped reveal so many ways I let my ego get the best of me and prevent me from getting where I want to go. I'm looking forward to completing this book.

What I Am Rethinking

How to Change Your Mind.jpg

"How to Change Your Mind" by Micael Pollan has caused me to rethink my stance on psychedelics. If used correctly and in the proper setting, people are experiencing long-term benefits such as decreased anxiety and overcoming addiction - many times after one session! It is definitely a topic I will be researching more in the future!

Show I Have Been Enjoying

"Castle Rock" on Hulu. Based on the stories by Stephen King, this creepy show has a lot to offer. I have always enjoyed the few books by King that I have read, but historically the movies based on his works have fallen short for me. So far this Hulu original series has not! Check out the trailer below.

In answer to a mysterious phone call from Shawshank, Henry Deaver returns home to #CastleRock. From Stephen King and J.J. Abrams, Castle Rock now streaming. New episodes Wednesdays. ABOUT CASTLE ROCK A psychological-horror series set in the Stephen King multiverse, Castle Rock combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King's best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland.

Quote Which Has Made Me Think

“Silence is a lesson learned from the many sufferings of life.” —SENECA, THYESTES, 309

I need to keep my mouth shut more!

I would love to hear what you found interesting this week. I hope the coming week is a great one!
